A Thin Place

Teenage Morgan relocates to small-town Minnesota with her father and older sister. Struggling to adjust, Morgan fixates on a cheerful blue door in the basement, whimsically thinking it might bring her luck. While her sister adapts easily, Morgan finds solace at a local coffee shop, where the owner, Lynn, becomes an unexpected confidant.

Over time, Lynn grows closer to the family and eventually becomes Morgan’s stepmother. As Morgan gains confidence and builds a new sense of belonging, one ritual never changes: every day, she visits her blue door.

Morgan finishes high school, and her life finally feels on track—until she is troubled by knocking sounds in the night. Though her search for the source initially reveals nothing, the sounds persist. Morgan also catches glimpses of a menacing yet disturbingly familiar figure. Then, she uncovers clues suggesting her door is part of something far darker embedded in the town itself. As her logical world begins to crumble, Morgan’s only desire is to defend her family and her new sense of normal, even as the knocking grows more insistent.
